Woodlawn Sportslink step onto the International Stage

Woodlawn Sportslink would like to congratulate Cian Fogarty and Ryan Corbally for their recent achievements with the FAI U15 international Squad. Cian has been selected for as a member of the 18 man squad that will travel to Dubai on Dec 2 – 8 to play against the Aspire Academy. Ryan has been selected as 1 of 4 players to be on standby for the international game. This is a fantastic achievement for both these players and also for the NSDL. It is also a great achievement for the Club to have two of its players considered to represent Ireland at International level and in particular the Woodlawn U15P team that has potentially 7 other players involved in the Emerging Talent Program, right on the border of making this Step.

Cian Fogarty has played for Woodlawn since he was 8 years old. He joined up with Noels team when they were just commencing the 2006-2007 U9 season and quickly became a regular in the centre midfield area. As the team progressed through the levels and onto the 11 aside platform, Cian stamped his authority and made people take note of his capability to play the beautiful game. Always committed to training and matches it was obvious that here was a player for the future. Cian has enjoyed great success with Woodlawn and also with the NDSL right up to being a member of the 2010-2011 Winning Kennedy Cup Squad. He has now moved onto the Emerging talent Level and has been selected for International Duty. Winning is not everything and it should be all about player development and with Cian Fogarty it is not just his ability but his excellent attitude to all and everything around him that has helped him along this path. May it go on and on for the future and we all wish him the very best of Luck.

Ryan Corbally has joined Woodlawn just this season. He has played for the previous few seasons for Joeys of East wall and has always play a year or two ahead of his age group. He was spotted by the NDSL and was drafted into the 2010-2011 Kennedy Cup Squad, to which he quickly became a first eleven player. He decided that he wanted to remain at his own age group this season and opted to Join Woodlawn. He has now moved onto the Emerging talent Level. Ryan has a fantastic left foot on him and can play anywhere along the left wing. He is being considered as a Left Full by the FAI for Ireland and with his height, athleticism and natural left foot he will make the grade. Ryan might be only with Woodlawn this season but he is a really nice lad who gets on great with all the squad and is a pleasure to have in the club. We wish him the very best of luck for his future both with Woodlawn and with Ireland.
